Rehearsal Notes – August 11th, 2010

Published by Jay under news

Hi Everyone,

Great rehearsal last night.  A warm welcome goes out to Janna Hinebaugh and Corey Kershaw.  We’re glad to have you in the choir and hope that you felt welcome.

Jonathan Palent, Director of the Turtle Creek Chorale, gave a 2 minute (ha ha) recruiting talk for the upcoming performance for the Faure Requiem.  He is also recruiting for the Partners in Harmony Concert to be held at the Meyerson in October. There is printed information available in the choir room on both of these events.

The annual Ministry Fair is this Sunday, August 15th. Recruit! Recruit!

The choir will NOT being singing in mass until August 22nd.  Call time is 1015 in the choir room.

At 630 on Wednesday, August 18th, the choir will host a ”New-comers” welcome reception in the choir room.  Plan to come early, have a snack, and meet and greet our new and returning members. Rehearsal will begin at 7pm.

The choir will be singing at a wedding on Saturday, August 21st.  The wedding is at 2:00 p.m.  Call time is at 130 in the loft.  If you have not signed up to participate and would like to, please e-mail Jay.

We began rehearsing the memorial concert music last night.  This year’s work is Handel’s ”Dettingen: Te Deum”.  Part predominant rehearsal CDs are available in the choir room. The more time you can spend learning the notes on your own, the more time we will be able to spend putting it all together. Thanks in advance for your individual work on this.

I’ll be on vacation from August 16th – Aug 22nd.   I’m leaving you in the  very capable and talented hands of Alberto Torres…. please be nice.  See you when I get back.

Catching up

Published by terrell under news

Jay sends out e-mails and I (belatedly) repost the news here. Just in case.

  • Congratulations to Erica in Austin on her good news. She and Brock bought a house and ARE EXPECTING A BABY!!! (It’s ok to shout for that kind of announcement. They’re due in July and you can follow their progress on http://www.totsites.com/tot/finnegan/
  • Our very own Nadia Getskova has her Graduate Recital for Composition on Sunday, Dec 6th at 8pm at SMU. Some choir members may be singing for this, I’m not sure.
  • From Liz: Hi Everyone: We have received two families, each with one child.  Each family will need food gift cards in denominations of $10 or $15 – totaling around $75. We have two little boys to buy for: Miguel is 2 years old and would like a musical truck or car, and also needs a jacket.  He wears size 3.  He also needs tennis shoes, size 6.  Christian is 6 months old.  His family would like him to receive the Fisher/Price Laugh and Learn.  Any baby clothes, size 12mos are needed. We need to have everything collected by Wednesday, Dec. 9th. Thanks for helping.  There will be a sign up sheet in the choir room so we can be sure each family gets what they need.
  • And just today from Ann via Jay…Good news from Ann: Hi Jay: I just spoke with Inge, and Helga’s eye surgery went very well.  She’s at home eating lunch right now.

Congrats, Best Wishes, Good Luck, Happy Holidays and prayers for quick recovery respectively!

Greetings from Portland

Published by terrell under news

Hi, guys! How’s Dallas? I’ve been in Portland for about two weeks now. I’m staying with my nephew and niece-in-law and their two little boys while I look for a job which is proving a little harder than I thought it would be. Keep a good thought for me there.

I heard you guys had a fantastic Memorial Concert. So sorry I couldn’t be there but I’m looking forward to hearing the CD.  Congratulations on such a wonderful reward for all your hard work.

Miss you all,

Terrell
