Choral Rosary

graphic by Larry Robertson

This year's spring Choral Rosary will be sung on a Sunday in early May at 10 a.m. between the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. Please join us for this unique prayer experience. Don't forget your rosary!

Twice a year, in October and May, the Holy Trinity Sanctuary Choir leads a Choral Rosary where the prayers of the Rosary are chanted by a cantor and the congregation. Between each of the decades, the choir sings a Marian anthem or motet. Recent rosaries have featured a choral setting of Schubert's Ave Maria, Rachmaninoff's Bogoroditsye Devo, Raduisya (Rejoice, O Virgin) and Victoria's Ave Maria. The Rosary itself is chanted by all present to ancient psalm tones from the early history of the Catholic Church. The Choral Rosary is a wonderful opportunity to participate in community prayer, to connect to the history of Catholic practice, and to celebrate the rich musical heritage of the Church.
